Maybe it's just the super blond hair or this particular expression on Luke's face, but I couldn't help but notice the resemblance when I looked at this picture. Ty especially is a huge fan of the Fox News political talk show host and couldn't be prouder! What do you think? Any resemblance?

Pregnancy Update & Luke's 1st Zoo Trip

I thought I was bigger with this baby than I was with Luke, and now I have proof. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping that it just means that this baby will be a little bit bigger or come a bit earlier!!!

On Friday, I met my mom in Tucson just for a fun day out of the house. She took Luke and I to the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. It's a small beautiful zoo that has only animals native to Arizona. We all enjoyed it. My favorite animal was the otter, because it just looked like it was having so much fun swimming in circles. Luke loved the lizards and the rocks.

Wa-hoo!!! Luke is Two!!!!!!!

Luke 2 months old.

Wow! These years have gone by so fast! Luke had his 2nd birthday yesterday. When Ty asked him yesterday morning "Luke are you 2 now?", his reply was "No, I six!". I've really enjoyed seeing more of his personality this year. He is quite the chatterbox. He talks all day long, and there's nothing he can't say. Sentences with as many as 6 words are not uncommon for him to say. He has also inherited his mother's sweet tooth. Never will he refuse any chocolate, popsicles, cake, ice cream, etc.. I grew up hearing horror stories about how I would scare my mom by the unsafe things I would try to do as a toddler, so it has really surprised me how careful and cautious Luke is. If something looks dangerous, he won't try it. He is also very strong willed and has quite an independent spirit, which is only exacerbated by the fact that he is 2!!! It drives me crazy most days how he insists on doing everything by himself, then throwing a fit if I try to help him even the tiniest bit. He loves playing with cars, and is happy to push them around all day. He definitely is a little sweetheart too, that still loves to be held and cuddled.

This year he really understood what birthdays are all about (cake and presents!). We celebrated Friday night with my mom and some of my family from out of state. We got to celebrate again last night at the park with all of Ty's family that live here in Thatcher. We had a great time. And yes that is a black eye you see in his birthday pictures at the park. He crashed into the bathtub Saturday night.

Weekend Update

First, Congratulations to Ty! He ran in the 4.2 mile Pat Tillman run in Tempe on Saturday finishing in only 37 min. without any training. Next year I'll run with him.

Luke and I headed up to Lakeside this weekend so I could see my old EAC roomate Meredith. I hadn't seen her since her weddding reception 2 years ago. It was great catching up. Savannah, Meredith, and I were roomates for 2 years at EAC, now the 3 of us are all pregnant and due within 3 months of eachother. We always dreamed this would happen, and that our kids would roomates at EAC someday!

Easter in the Snow!!!

We spent Easter weekend with my parents in Lakeside. I heard it was probally going to snow, so I tried to pack warm clothes. When I woke up Saturday morning and saw all the snow that had come in the night, I realized that I should have packed snow pants and snow boots too! We went to the community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. Luke didn't enjoy walking in the snow or having to put his hand in the snow to pick up the eggs, but he was overjoyed to find out that there was candy inside the eggs. Sunday morning we stayed warm by having our little Easter egg hunt indoors.

Spring is here!

Spring is here with the promise of new life!
Just when I was starting to think that my soil must be cursed, I walked outside and found this! My tomatoes and peppers are struggling (to say the least!). If all else fails though, at least we'll have green beans this summer!
I also got a second ultrasound last week. Everything looks good, and I couldn't be happier. Blogger isn't letting me upload the picture from the ultrasound, but you can take my only somewhat biased word for it that he is absolutely adorable! With Luke I was excited but didn't know what to expect and was really nervous about giving birth, but with this baby I'm feeling ready and am having a harder time waiting. I've found that the wait sounds a lot shorter when I think I only have just over 2 months left, instead of 9 1/2 weeks or 68 days. The picture is of me at 28 1/2weeks with my little brother, sister, and Luke.

One Whole Year!

This month marks the 1 year anniversary of our arrival in Thatcher. Luke was just learning how to walk then, and now he's running and pushing trucks up and down hills. In a lot of ways I still feel like I'm new here. Ty knows everyone and everyone knows him, because he grew up here. I'm still trying to get to know who everyone is ( and how exactly we're related to them!). It didn't take me long for me to figure out my way around town.
After living in the Phoenix and dealing with that traffic and my 20 min. drive one-way to Wal-Mart, I swore to myself when we moved here that I would never complain about the traffic or having to drive to the other end of Safford to run errands (approx. 5 min. drive). That didn't last long. I already put off driving to the bank in Safford unless I have some other reason to drive uptown. I really love the views, and being able to see mountains from almost anywhere in town. I love that my new friends have taught me to do new things like can beans. I love that I have a house and a garden. I love that Luke will never run out of endless expanses of dirt to push his trucks on. I love living close to the community college.
While not everything is better in a small town than a city (like the shopping for example!), this has been a good move for us.

Cool Dude Sunglasses!

Luke absolutely loves his new sunglasses! He'd been complaining a lot lately when we went outside that it was too sunny. For a quick fix we went to Wal-Mart and bought him a $2 pair of sunglasses. I didn't know if he would really keep them on, but he's wanted to show them off to everyone and has worn them every time he's been outside. While we were at Wal-Mart we also picked up some sidewalk chalk since the weather has been absolutely perfect all week here. It is amazing to me how much changing up the usual routine and playing outside with chalk can brighten his day!

It's a Boy!!!

I got my first ultrasound this week and found out that our baby is going to be a boy. Everything looks great so far. Luke is going to love having a little brother to play with and get into trouble with, and I'm excited to be the mother of two little boys! Someday hopefully we'll get to have a little girl, but I'll worry about that in the future. We already have everything we need for a boy, so Ty's happy that I won't be going out to buy anything pink. Having the ultrasound just made everything seem more real and makes June feel like a really long ways to wait! The pictures are of the side profile of the baby's face and one very cute little leg.

Day Trip to the Snow

On Saturday we took a little trip up Mt. Graham to play in the snow. We had fun watching Luke react to the snow. Ty and I got a kick out of watching him waddle in his snowpants and boots. We made a little sledding run for him. He didn't really like that. He did love the snowman and throwing snowballs though. Here's a few pics!

Our Exciting Christmas & Snow in Thatcher

I had been looking forward to Christmas morning for so long. At 19 mo. Luke would old enough to finally get excited about opening presents and getting new toys. Luke had been sick with a fever the few days before Christmas, so his schedule was pretty out of wack. By the time it was after 1o a.m. Ty and I couldn't wait any longer and got Luke out of bed. He was still pretty groggy and didn't know what to think at first, but after a little bit he got really into playing cars with dad on his new car road rug. After that we let him have at his stocking. That was probably his favorite part, because Luke loves candy!!!

After that Ty's parents stopped by, and we opened the rest of the presents with them. We had a nice lunch with Ty's family that afternoon, and later that evening my parents and the 2 kids still at home made the drive from Pinetop to Thatcher to come and see us. My family had to leave the next afternoon, but we still enjoyed their visit even though it was short.

The evening of the 26th it actually started snowing in Thatcher!!! Snow is not unheard of in Thatcher, but with a climate not much cooler than Phoenix, it definitely does not snow every year. This was the first time I've ever seen it snow here. I think I was more excited than anyone else. By morning we accumulated about 1 whole inch!!! The moment Luke woke up that morning I put his snow gear on him and took him outside so he could play in the snow on this momentous occasion. He went pretty unwillingly at first, but after a lot of coaxing he enjoyed it a bit. I was so happy there was enough snow to make Luke a little snowman warrior chief.

This has been an eventful year for our family. Our biggest change was buying a house and moving to Thatcher, AZ from Scottsdale, AZ in March when Ty gladly accepted a job offer to work in the family business, Allen Pump Co. We have been enjoying small town life ever since. Being in Thatcher, Ty has also enjoyed following his high school Alma matter’s sports teams along with watching Arizona State Football. Ty is able to come home for lunch almost every day. This summer Ty was able to realize one of his dreams growing a yard full of beautiful grass.
Spending this year at home with Luke in Thatcher has been very nice. From friends at church I’ve enjoyed learning how to home can different foods. I surprised myself developing a real love of reading. Reaping the benefits of living next to the community college, EAC, this summer I learned to play tennis, and this fall I played violin in the community symphony. Also, we are all greatly anticipating the arrival of a new baby this summer in June.
Luke started this year my little baby, and now at 19 months old he is a little boy. Learning how to walk, talk, and feed himself are only a few of his accomplishments this year. He has been an incredibly happy and healthy kid with simple likes and dislikes. He loves playing Nintendo Wii, reading books, candy, doggies, cars, and being spoiled by grandparents. He does not like Nursery, vegetables, sharing, being told “no”, and having sticky stuff on his hands.

Big News!!!

I'm pregnant!!! I am really excited. The baby is due June 16th (the day before my birthday), so that puts me at 11 weeks now. So far everything is going really well. I've been tired and nauseous but about 100x less sick with this baby than I was with Luke. Anyways, that's the big news! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
